Important Copper Oxidation Note
Many of our tags are made from copper-based coins (e.g., pennies, halfpennies, florins with copper content). Copper naturally oxidises over time when exposed to air and moisture, especially on the sanded surface where the original mint finish has been removed. This can lead to:
A pearlescent or rainbow sheen
Darkening or patination
Surface colour shifting over the first couple of weeks
This change is natural and not a defect — many customers enjoy the evolving patina for its unique, aged character. However, if you prefer your tag to stay bright and untarnished, we recommend you opt for one of the nickel (silver) based coins since they aren’t as effected by this process compared to the copper coins.
